Nadir Magsi`s masterly show on wheels at Xtreme Autocross
KARACHI, Nov 10: The fifth round of Xtreme Autocross Championship 2010 was held at Clifton recently.
The racing event, the penultimate of this year's season, generated tremendous excitement and enthralled the audience that had converged to witness the sizzling motorsport contest.
This year's championship saw a total of seven categories contested between 33 drivers, including three Stock categories and four Prepared categories, based on international autocross racing formats.
The ever-energetic Nadir Magsi was in fantastic form once again and posted a time of 47.16 seconds driving his Mitsubishi Evolution 8 special model, taking the lead over Imam Ali Shah and Mukesh Chawla, who had dominated the previous four rounds of this season.
The battle was intense in every category, starting with the C-Stock category, where Nauman Saranjam and Saleem Tabani were fighting for the top spot in the championship.
In the end, Nauman Saranjam posted a time of 54.97 seconds, which was better than the one posted by Saleem Tabani, whose best run was 55.78 seconds.
In the B-Stock category, Mansoor Halim won convincingly, outdoing his fierce rival Irfan Mirza, who failed to participate due to a car problem.
In the Prepared categories, the D-Prepared category saw an enthralling tussle between Mohammad Jaffer Magsi and Ghazanfar Agha. Ghazanfar, who has been in fine form this season, continued his golden run as he posted a time of 55.49 seconds.
The C-Prepared category, which has been registering the fastest time of the day throughout this year's championship, saw an exciting battle between Mukesh Chawla and Imam Ali Shah fighting for the championship.
Imam Ali Shah posted a time of 50.53 seconds to beat Chawla by a few seconds. Shamyl Khuhro, who has been the closest competitor to Nadir Magsi in the B-Prepared category, was winning until Magsi's 5th run, when he used his experience to finally outdo his opponent.
In the A-Prepared category, the winner of the last four races, Amir Ali Shah, had his run halted by his cousin Zaheer Hussain Shah, who was driving a Mercedes-Benz C200.
Zaheer posted a time of 53.82 seconds, which was good enough to edge out Amir Ali Shah, also driving a prepared Mercedes-Benz C200.
