Mukesh Chawla excels in round four of Xtreme Autocross
KARACHI, Oct 22: Mukesh Chawla displayed superb driving skills to set the fastest time of the day (54.38 seconds) while driving a Toyota MR-S in the C-Prepared category of Round 4 in the Xtreme Autocross Championship 2010, held recently at the Fountain Parking lot, Clifton, Karachi.
The championship was participated in by 41 drivers across eight categories. Every driver was given five runs on the track. The track was a very challenging one, with a mix of slalom, bus stops, and tight corners.
The C-Prepared category of Round 4 was competed furiously among Nadir Magsi, Imam Ali Shah, and Mukesh Chawla, where Mukesh emerged the winner with 54.38 seconds. Imam Ali Shah, with a timing of 55.16 seconds, finished second.
Asad Khuhro was the race director of this Xtreme Autocross Championship and also the track designer. The competition was closely contested in every category and also saw the debut of the Ladies category in autocross racing in Pakistan.
Sonia Khuhro finished top in the L-Stock category with a timing of 1:17.83, while Ghazal Beg finished second with 1:27.18, and Maliha Ahmed was third with a timing of 1:29.40.
Besides, Xtreme Motorsports has set the highest standard of transparency in motor racing in Pakistan by having live timing displayed on the track for participants and spectators alike.
Among other categories, the winners were Zaheer Shah (A-Stock), Mansoor Halim (B-Stock), Saleem Tabani (C-Stock), Amir Ali Shah (A-Prepared), Nadir Magsi (B-Prepared), and Ghazanfar Agha (D-Prepared).
The second-last round of the Xtreme Autocross Championship 2010 is scheduled for Nov 6.
